In 17 seasons under head coach Joe Peron, no Pasadena City College women's basketball team has clamped down on defense better than the 2012-2013 Lancers. On Friday night, PCC did its routine of swallowing the other team's offense while playing enough offense of its own to notch a 66-45 victory at Cerritos College in the South Coast Conference finale.

The Lancers opened up a commanding 40-17 halftime lead and coasted to win No. 22 of the season. PCC finished the regular season at 22-6 and 12-4 to take third place in the SCC. The Lancers also moved to 14-0 in games where they held the opponent to less than 50 points.

Desiree Loving, a reserve freshman guard (pictured), made 8-for-12 from the floor to lead Pasadena with 16 points (and five rebounds) while sophomore point guard Shay Jackson tallied 14 points and six assists. Tyler Crockom and Kaitlyn Parks each added eight points. Brandi DuBose didn't score but led PCC in rebounds (seven) and steals (three).

Nia Lateju led Cerritos with 14 points, but the Falcons are now facing the possibility of missing the postseason for the first time since 1991-92. Cerritos is 14-13 overall, but finished in a tie for fifth place in the SCC with East Los Angeles. It's unlikely the SCC will get more than five playoff teams and ELAC has a better overall record.

PCC, the state's No. 9-ranked team, is looking for a top eight playoff seed to get a second round playoff game and first round bye. The Lancers will learn their playoff seeding early next week.
