The Pasadena City College women's soccer team came off an outstanding second place finish last year in the South Coast Conference. First-year head coach Reggie Rivas didn't waste any time directing the Lancers to a positive start to the 2013 SCC schedule as PCC blanked host El Camino College, 3-0, Tuesday afternoon.

The visiting Lancers (now 3-2-2 overall) scored all three of their goals in the first half and in only a 14-minute span.

Sophomore Amanda Papac (pictured) got the Lancers on the board in the 24th minute with a chip-shot over a charging Gudino to put the Lancers up 1-0. Helena Macintosh picked up the assist.

In the 32nd minute, Papac struck again thanks to a Warriors miscue in the box. Gudino charged and leapt in an attempt to flag down a Lancers’ throw-in attempt but came down hard and lost her grip on the ball. Papac pounced on the loose ball and tucked it into the back of the net for her second tally of the day.

The Lancers capped off the scoring in the 38th minute when midfielder Isabella Montano headed a crossing pass from Carmen Aguilar high into the net.

PCC goalie Angie Ulmer only had to make two saves as the Lancers outshot El Camino, 17-5.

"The girls played great," Rivas said. "We are connecting on our passes and playing total team defense. We just have to keep this momentum going offensively that we've created over the last few matches."

PCC visits East Los Angeles College Friday, October 4 for a 6 p.m. conference game.
