News: Clark Still On Fast Track For PCC
Breanna Clark won the 400-meter race and was third in the 200 meters for the Pasadena City College women's track and field team at the Redlands University Invitational on March 21.
Clark raced a 57.44 seconds time in winning the 400 and clocked a 24.96 in the 200. A sophomore, Clark's mark in the 200 is the sixth fastest time in the state and third in the Southern California region. Clark currently is fourth in the state in the 400 (a 57.07 set at the Occidental Distance Carnival on March 14) and 12th in the 100 (12.40).
Sophomore Yvette Bastidas won the discus throw at 114 feet, 7 inches. She is 18th in the state with a best of 120-7 at an earlier meet. Bastidas was third in the javelin (104-10), now 22nd in the state, and fourth in the shot put (32-7.5). Tansica Sunkamaneevongse placed eighth in the 1,500 meters (5:01.88) and is now No. 29 in the state in the event. She was sixth in the 800 meters (2:29.84).
In the men's events at Redlands, PCC's Nathan Wolitarsky won the shot put (42-8.75), but is only 34th in the state, and was sixth in the discus (118-1). Torus Stephey took third in the long jump at 21-7.25 (37th in the state).
Oswell Caal impressed with his 1:59.15 to place fifth in the 800 meters (37th in state). Brendan Greene placed fourth in the 1,500 meters at an unranked 4:13.77. Vincent Ogbehi was sixth in the 400 meters (52.16), also not ranked among the top 50.
