GEOL 1F PHYSICAL GEOLOGY FIELD STUDIES 1 Unit

Prerequisite(s): Enrollment in or completion of Geol 1.
Observation and interpretation of geological phenomena with emphasis on the origin and development of the geology of Southern California. Required four days of instructional trips (equal to an average of two hours of trips each week). Total of 18 hours lecture and 18 hours laboratory. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC credit limitations. See counselor. Grading: Letter Grade or Pass/No Pass

Prerequisite(s): Enrollment in or completion of Geol 3.
Field observation and interpretation of Geologic, Oceanographic, Atmospheric and Astronomic phenomena. Required four days of instructional trips (equal to 2 hours of trips each week). Total of 18 hours lecture and 18 hours laboratory. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC Grading: Letter Grade or Pass/No Pass

GEOL 30E OWENS VALLEY - DEATH VALLEY 2 Units

Prerequisite(s): Enrollment in or completion of Geol 1 or 3.
Field investigation of the regional geology in a national or international area of selected interest. Each course 2 units. Required instructional trips (an average of two hours each week). Total of 36 hours lecture and 18 hours laboratory. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC credit limitations. See counselor. Grading: Letter Grade or Pass/No Pass

This course will consist of an one-day trip to the Mojave Desert on Oct. 6 and an overnight five-day trip to Owens Valley & Death Valley, Oct. 18-22. These trips will involve camping and strenuous hiking in inclement weather. Students must attend a mandatory organizational meeting Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 5:00pm in E203.
