Welcome to the Faculty Resource on Designing and Assessing SLOs
Introduction
The goal of this site is to provide information for divisions and faculty about designing and assessing student learning outcomes (SLO's). The site also provides a venue for faculty to share ideas and learn from each other.
Student learning outcomes are written statements that represent faculty, departmental and institutional learning goals for students. As part of the mission and to strengthen teaching and learning at PCC, SLOs will be written for individual courses, for programs and for the institution. Although there are many types of learning outcomes and many techniques for assessing those outcomes, all SLOs are observable or measurable. The resources and examples on this website can serve as guides for faculty and divisions in developing learning outcomes and assessment tools. The website is a work in progress and some sections are lacking content, but will be updated during the SLO development phase. Faculty or divisions needing additional assistance or wishing to add materials to the website can contact the Academic Senate Office at (626) 585-7221.
