Star for a Day

Looking for a fun way to say “thank you” to someone on campus that makes your day a little brighter? Why not submit a nomination for the STAR FOR A DAY award, presented by Classified Staff Development?

Nomination forms are sent campus-wide at the beginning of each academic year, with additional forms available year-round from the Human Resources office. All regular Classified and Academic employees are eligible for nomination. You can nominate an individual or an entire team. The “Star Committee” randomly draws a nomination every month or so. Then, the unsuspecting nominee(s) are greeted in song and presented with a festive balloon bouquet, engraved paperweight, and “star” pin.

Contact Cha Mancini for more information.

Margie Casini of the Child Development Center choosen Star for Day

A beautiful sound came from the Child Development Center yesterday morning as the children of CDC sang in unison the STAR FOR DAY jingle to their favorite teacher, MARGIE CASINI.

MARGIE was surrounded by colleagues, her classroom kids, her husband who took off from work to support his lovely wife, her own two children and her sister. The CDC staff went all out to make sure that MARGIE felt like the STAR that she is. MARGIE is certainly surrounded by love and friends and definitely deserves this award.

Star for a Day Award to Michael Buckhouse in MIS!

MICHAEL BUCKHOUSE doesn't only have a love for trains, he is equally passionate and dedicated to his position in MIS as a Senior Production Clerk. A few months back, Michael puffed full steam ahead and stayed on course in assisting the D.S.P.S. Department in what might have been a disastrous derailment for the division. MICHAEL engineered clever maneuvers and persevered to successfully restore a software failure they were experiencing. One might say he saved their caboose, respectfully. As this month's STAR FOR A DAY recipient, MICHAEL has proven that he can keep cool and stay on track when faced with an uphill battle. We're all behind you, MICHAEL; we have no doubt YOU CAN!!!

STAR FOR THE DAY WINNER

Congratulations to Beverly Tillman. She is our new star for the day winner.

Photo of Beverly Tillman receiving Star Award"SHOCK, AMAZEMENT, AND DISBELIEF" were just some of the words that BEVERLY TILLMAN from Institutional Planning and Research used when she received the STAR FOR A DAY award the morning of November 30. The teary-eyed STAR couldn't fathom the thought of what was happening when she was surprised by so many friends congratulating her for this award. BEVERLY has been employed at PCC since 1988, so obviously this award is way passed due and well deserved.
