What is Online Counseling?
This service allows PCC students or prospective students with a resource to ask general questions that pertain to reaching their educational goal at Pasadena City College. Keep in mind that not all questions can be answered in full via this on-line service. Questions requiring a lengthy response, evaluation of transcripts or questions deemed of a sensitive nature may require an appointment with a counselor on campus.
Since college requirements and policies are subject to change, all replies are to be used as advisory and informational only and will not constitute an official determination by PCC. Please be aware that because of the nature of the Internet and email technology, there can be no assurance of confidentiality when using this on-line service. When requesting for information pertaining to your student records, a reply will be sent to your LancerPoint email.
All on-line messages will be reviewed and transmitted to the qualified counselor ready to best answer your question. Responses will be handled in a timely manner based on counselor availability (generally within 4 business days, M-F). During peak seasons (registeration periods), responses may take longer. If your situation is time sensitive, please come see a counselor in person in L building. Information provided by counselors is subject to the limitations of current and available material. Please read the following before using this service.
On-line Counseling is appropriate for 1-2 questions such as:
- clarification of college procedures and policies
- general certificate, degree and transfer requirements
- course prerequisite information
- course offerings and majors available
- referrals to other programs/services
- transferability of PCC courses
On-line Counseling is NOT appropriate for:
- personal or crisis counseling
- career counseling
- transcript evaluations
- transferability of courses from other colleges
- placement test results or recommendations
- educational planning (Ed Plans)
- financial aid inquiries (please connect with the Financial Aid office)
Appointments cannot be made through Online Counseling.
