The purpose of a resume is to provide a summary of your skills, abilities and accomplishments. It is a quick advertisement of who you are. It is a "snapshot" of you with the intent of capturing and emphasizing interests and secure you an interview. It is not an autobiography. Since your resume is a primary tool in your job search, it needs to be carefully written and critiqued.
Your resume may be used for applying for jobs, internships, volunteer work and even your college entrance application.
Once you have completed a good draft of your resume call the PCC Career Center to set up an appointment with Leticia R. Sanchez or Yolanda L. de la Fuente to review your resume and cover letter.
Remember: your cover letter is a reflection of you and how you approach your work
The interview is one of the most important phases of the job search process. Your resume and cover letter are simply tools to get you to the interviewing stage. The interview is your opportunity to convince an employer that you are the right person for the job.

As the interviewee, the main purposes of the interview are to:
- Communicate information about yourself, your experience and your abilities
- Seek further information about the position and the organization
- Evaluate the match between your needs and what the job offer
