READING AND STUDY SKILLS CLASSES
With the help of a counselor, students enter a sequence of reading
and study skills classes based on their abilities as indicated by
multiple measures. Students interested in enrolling in one of the
following courses should see a counselor.
ESL 460 - Basic Reading Skills (ESL Reading –
Level 1)
Introduction to vocabulary building and basic reading techniques
ESL 432 - Basic Reading (ESL Reading – Level
2)
Development of word attack skills, vocabulary, study skills, and
basic reading techniques
ESL 132 - Reading (ESL Reading – Level 3)
Introduction to word attack skills, vocabulary, study skills, and
intermediate reading techniques
ENGLISH 415 - Basic Reading
Introduction to word attack skills, vocabulary, study skills, and
basic reading techniques
ENGLISH 130 - Reading Skills
Development of reading skills, vocabulary, and study techniques
ENGLISH 133 - Critical Reading
Development of comprehension and critical thinking skills to increase
ability to analyze critically and evaluate different types of writing
ENGLISH 110 - Skills for College Success
Development of essential study techniques and critical thinking
skills related to time management, textbook mastery, test taking,
and memory. English 110 can be taken at any time. It is not part
of a sequence.
