Welcome future Lancer graduates! You are officially invited to partner in a program that was designed with your needs in mind. The Ujima Program is a one-year transfer program that focuses on African American/black cultural issues. “Ujima” (oo-JEE-ma), a Swahili word that means “responsibility” or “collective work,” provides an environment that seeks to nurture your development and connection to the greater academic community by serving as a conduit for your social and academic adjustment during the first year of college. The data on student success shows that those who satisfactorily complete their transferable English and math courses are more likely to stay in college and transfer/graduate. If you should choose to accept this mission, we desire to partner with you by helping you become a learner that understands the importance of resilience in personal and academic success.
