Scholars Program

The PCC Scholars Program provides highly motivated students with an intellectually challenging educational experience designed to prepare them for a successful transition from community college to university.

The program offers high-achieving students strong academic preparation and curriculum planning to help them succeed in their major and achieve a B.A./B.S. degree after transfer. In addition to the academically enriched program, Scholar Program students receive support services from a specially designated counselor and faculty coordinator at PCC.

Students also begin to forge links with the transfer institutions by attending special orientation programs at the universities and meeting with university faculty, counselors, and students.

The program includes:

1. a partnership between Pasadena City College and UCLA (Transfer Alliance Program) which guarantees priority consideration for admission to the UCLA College of Letters and Science at the junior level.

2. a partnership between Pasadena City College and Pomona College (PATH-Pomona Agreement for Transfer Honors) which offers priority consideration for transfer admission.

3. a partnership between Pasadena City College and UCR (HART-Honors Alliance for Riverside Transfers) which guarantees admission. (For those selecting majors in biology, business administration, and engineering, additional admission requirements must be completed.)

4. a partnership between Pasadena City College and Occidental College (Preferred Admission Agreement) which gives preferred consideration for transfer admission.

5. a partnership between Pasadena City College and UC Irvine (Honors Transfer Program) which guarantees priority consideration for admission to UCI at the junior level.

In order to participate in the program, students must have one of the following:

1. 3.0 GPA from high school or

2. 3.0 after 12 units of transfer courses at PCC.

To successfully complete the program, students must :

1. Download and complete a Scholars Program application using the link below and return it anytime to L104.  There is no application deadline.

2. Complete six courses or 18 units of Scholars Program courses. No more than two (2) Scholars Program classes can be taken in the last semester prior to transfer.

3. Maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 (3.1 for UCLA's TAP Program and a 3.5 for Pomona College's PATH agreement and Occidental College).

4. Complete all pre-major and admission requirements set by the transfer institution.

Scholars Program classes are only offered during the Fall and Spring semesters.
