Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) is a faculty development project designed to encourage the incorporation of writing into classes in all instructional divisions at PCC. Instructional Aides assist instructors from various disciplines as they incorporate writing into their classes. They also attend meetings and workshops to learn about WAC principles and techniques. If hired, an IA will be expected to commit to the program for the 2003-2004 academic year. This is a great opportunity to get training and hands-on classroom experience.

Requirements of Instructional Aides

• Attend WAC workshops and meetings
• Attend classes each week
• Conference with instructor and students
• Support instructors in the implementation of WAC principles

Preferred Qualifications

• BA or MA candidates with good grasp of subject area, e.g. history, math, art, music, computer science, etc.
• Strong English writing skills
• Previous tutoring or teaching experience
• Motivation to gain experience in classroom instruction
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment
