DEFINITION
The Audio/Video Production Specialist, under the supervision of the Director, Technical Services, designs, constructs, installs, operates and maintains the district’s radio, television, and audio/video streaming environment.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (Illustrative Only)
- Assures District compliance with FCC rules and regulations for maintenance and operation of radio and television equipment.
- Designs, constructs, and installs District radio and television studio environments.
- Establishes a maintenance schedule for regular inspection and testing of all District radio and television studio environments.
- Designs, constructs, and installs media presentation systems in district classrooms and other venues.
- Establishes a maintenance schedule for regular inspection and testing of all District media presentation systems.
- Diagnoses, repairs, or supervises the adjustment and repair of radio and television studio equipment and media presentation equipment.
- Provides faculty and staff with training on the use of the District’s radio and television studio environments and media presentation equipment.
- Provides the Director, Technical Services with recommendations to enhance the District’s radio and television studio environments and media presentation systems.
- Makes recommendations regarding the purchase and maintenance of capital equipment and supplies and assists in developing the Electronic Services budget.
- May assist with the supervision of hourly unclassified and student workers.
- At the request of the Director, Technical Services, performs a variety of unscheduled duties normally and traditionally performed by an Audio/Video Production Specialist.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- FCC rules and regulations; and
- Electronic theory, principles and application.
ABILITY TO:
- Operate, maintain and repair radio and television studio environments;
- Provide excellent customer service and work as a member of a team;
- Plan, organize and supervise the work of others and to establish standards of performance;
- Develop and implement safety procedures especially for working with equipment carrying lethal voltage;
- Work independently with little direction and identify creative solutions to problems;
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others’
- Read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures; and
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of AA/AS degree in an electronics related field and two years of work experience related to the duties of an Audio/Video Production Specialist; OR
- Four years of work experience related to the duties of an Audio/Video Production Specialist.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced academic degrees in electronics, electrical engineering or related field and/or related professional certifications;
- Possess a Society of Broadcasting Engineers engineering certificate; and
- Knowledge and ability to work with industry standard Audio/Video production systems and media presentation equipment.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Seeing to inspect written documents, communicate with District staff, sitting for extended periods of time, bending, kneeling and reaching to retrieve and file records, and dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a keyboard and other office equipment.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: One year.
