State No. 5-Ranked Women's Basketball Now 7-0
One of just three teams in the state still undefeated, the Pasadena City College women's basketball team rolled to its seventh straight victory, 70-55, over West Los Angeles in the opening round of the 15th Rose City Classic Tournament Friday at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
The Lancers (7-0) were ranked No. 5 in this week's state poll and No. 2 in Southern California behind state top-ranked Mt. San Antonio (10-0). Both the Lancers and Mounties play in the state's stongest conference--the South Coast. Mt. San Jacinto is the other undefeated team from the Foothill Conference at 8-0.
Frosh center Kaitlyn Parks poured in 25 points, making 11 of 14 shots from the field, and added 12 rebounds plus three blocked shots. Sophomore guard Stella Ghazarian added 11 points (three 3-pointers) while freshman forward Sarah Jackson was outstanding off the bench with 10 points (5-for-6 from the field), four rebounds and three steals. Sophomore reserve guard Kahlia Theus contributed eight points.
