The Writing Center is home to the English Writing Center Lab courses (English 901 and 902). These courses—corequisites for all students enrolled in English 100 and 400—help students develop their writing skills through individualized instruction with English Department faculty and student writing consultants, and through computer-assisted instruction. The Center also provides one-on-one instruction on a walk-in* basis for students enrolled in English 1A, 100, and 400 composition courses.
*Walk-in tutoring availability is not guaranteed. In hours of high demand, the Writing Center staff may limit walk-in tutoring availability.

Mission Statement and Student Learning Outcomes
The mission of the Writing Center is to help students succeed in their English composition courses, while developing their composition, grammar, and research skills.
Writing Center Student Learning Outcomes:
The Writing Center is not an open lab.
Only students enrolled in English 1A, 100, and 400 may meet with a Writing Center tutor.
Hours for Walk-in Tutoring:
Second Summer Session (June 30 - August 7)
The key component of Writing Center Lab curriculum is one-on-one instruction. Every hour that the Center is open, two English instructors and two writing consultants are on-hand to provide individualized instruction to students enrolled in Lab courses.
*Walk-in tutoring availability is not guaranteed. Students enrolled in any given class hour will be served before walk-in students. In hours of high demand, the Writing Center staff may limit walk-in tutoring availability.
