The Writing Center is located on the third floor of the C building, C-341.  The main telephone numbers are (626) 585-7089 (days) and (626) 585-7088 (evenings).  Check out the links to the right for more specific information.

The Writing Center is home to the English Writing Center Lab courses (English 900, 901, and 902).  These courses—corequisites for all students enrolled in English 1A, 100, and 400—help students develop their writing skills through individualized instruction with instructors and writing consultants, and through computer-assisted instruction.  The Center also provides one-on-one instruction on a walk-in* basis for students enrolled in English composition courses.

*Walk-in tutoring availability is not guaranteed.  Students enrolled in any given class hour will be served before walk-in students.  In hours of high demand, the Writing Center staff may limit walk-in tutoring availability.

Hours of Operation: Extended Spring 2013 (May 13 - June 19)

One-on-One Instruction

The key component of Writing Center Lab curriculum is one-on-one instruction.  Every hour that the Center is open, two English instructors and up to four writing consultants are on-hand to provide individualized instruction to students enrolled in Lab courses.

Writing Center Student Behavior Policies

• Student Conduct: PCC and the Writing Center seek to maintain a safe, orderly, constructive campus environment that fosters freedom to learn and respect for all members of the College community. In the event of any misconduct, our staff will follow the disciplinary procedures in PCC’s “Student Conduct Code” (see the link above this section for PCC’s “Student Conduct Code”).
• Cell Phones: Since cell phones, text messagers, and other electronic devices, including iPods, are distracting to others and can interfere with equipment, please turn them off and keep them out of sight.
• Food and Drink: Lab environments make eating and drinking a hazard (even bottled water can spill on electrical equipment). Please keep any food or drink in your bag, away from the computer workstations and off the floor.
• Visitors: Unfortunately, the Writing Center cannot accommodate visitors or non-registered persons, including children.
