More than 100 courses are offered in Music, ranging
from basic keyboard skills and teaching music to preschoolers, to
scoring a jazz band arrangement or composing a Renaissance motet.
A curriculum of traditional and contemporary courses is offered
and the diverse and experienced faculty cover the spectrum of the
music field.
To develop appreciation of music as an art and as a craft, classes
are taught in harmony, literature, and vocal, instrumental and electronic
techniques. New courses are added as warranted to reflect the needs
of today's competitive music industry.
Instrumental and choral groups are also an integral part of the
music program. Faculty and students dedicate their time, in and
out of the classroom, to such musical activities as the Tournament
of Roses Honor Band, orchestra, and jazz, choral, theatrical,
and chamber ensembles, providing a variety of performance experiences
for the benefit of the students, the college and the community. |
