Jackie Robinson Arts & Humanities Lecture Series 2021

Part I of the series took place Thursday, February 25, 2021, at 5 PM. The evening featured a special presentation by William E.L. Syms, Interim Dean of the Non-Credit Division, who highlighted the advantages of attending Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU). Hosted by Charles Reese and featuring many more guests and PCC alumni, this remote event was part of a four-part conversation/performative arts virtual online salon series.

Part Two of the series took place Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at 5 PM PST. The evening featured an engaging, one-on-one conversation with Sandra Jackson-Dumont, director and CEO of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, followed by a Q&A and live performances from guest artists. Hosted by Charles Reese, this remote event is part of a four-part conversation/performative arts virtual online salon series.

Part Three of the series took place Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at 5 PM PST. The evening featured an intimate discussion with acclaimed filmmaker and producer Matthew A. Cherry. As co-director of the Academy Award-winning short animation film Hair Love, Cherry discussed the future of Black animators in the film industry. There was a special screening of Hair Love, which features the voice of actress Issa Rae, followed by a Q&A with Cherry. Hosted by Charles Reese, this remote event was part of a four-part conversation/performative arts virtual online salon series.
