The annual event begins with a special 1K run for children ages 3-to-5 at 7:30 a.m. The official 5K Run/Walk starts at 8 a.m.

One of the most important events during the American Civil Rights Movement happened in 1957 when nine black students were enrolled in a formerly racially segregated public high school in Little Rock, Arkansas. Dr. Terrence Roberts, one of the members of that group called The Little Rock Nine, will make a special public speaking engagement Thursday, May 1 at the Pasadena City College Community Education Center. The event starts at 7 p.m. at the CEC's Jack Scott Multipurpose Room. This special event is open to the public and CEC parking will be free to those that attend.

Robert Lewis, in charge of sports information for the last 17 years at Pasadena City College, accepted the annual Brass Top award Wednesday from the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA). The award honors career achievement in sports information and was handed out at the COA/CCCAA Convention in Ontario.

Pasadena City College’s annual study program to Baja, Mexico, takes a new perspective by offering Anthropology 2 and English 1A courses. The trip consists of on-campus classes, from June 23 through July 3, and will continue the hands-on learning in Mexico, from July 6 through July 23. While traditionally the program was geared towards Biology and Geology, the Anthropology and English courses will give a different perspective on the diverse culture of Mexico.

Jackie Robinson, who played baseball at Pasadena Junior College in 1938-39 before embarking on his famous major league career with the Brooklyn Dodgers, was named an inductee in the 2008 class of the National College Baseball Hall of Fame.

Pasadena City College sophomore wide receiver David Reed, who set a national community college record for most receptions in a season with 111 last year, signed his scholarship letter of intent today with the University of Utah. Wednesday, Dec. 19 is the first day that community college student-athletes can sign with universities.

Shav Glick, who covered the exploits of Jackie Robinson as a Pasadena Junior College classmate and sports writer, passed away Saturday at the age of 87 from complications of melanoma. Glick was a long-time Pasadena resident and graduate of PJC in 1939.
