Welcome to Foreign Languages Any student who is transferring to a university has to satisfy the foreign language requiment. PCC offers a wide range of languages for students to select. All languages are offered at the beginning level and intermediate level. Certain languages offer further studies in advanced level and civilization/cultural. There are various levels of proficiency for each language. Designated instructors assess students individually to place students in their proper level. Foreign languages program at PCC accepts transcripts of language level from high schools or other accredited institutions. Foreign language assessment may be administered according to instructor’s decision, such as, written, oral or both. Upon an instructor’s acceptable assessment of student’s level of competency, a blue assessment slip must be completed and submitted to division office for processing. All assessments are required to be authorized by division dean prior to student submitting slip to Advisement Center L104 for entry into registration system. A failed assessment requires a student to register and complete beginner-level courses in the respective language. Exception to this would be an instructor approving entry to classes designed for heritage or near-native speakers.
