Our counselors are here to answer your questions and help you plan for academic success. Drop-in anytime during our open hours and a counselor will help answer your questions!
In order to help as many students as possible, our counselors are available on a drop-in basis. During drop-in counseling, a counselor will answer your questions and set up a longer follow-up appointment if determined necessary.
To meet with a counselor, come to the Counseling Center (L-104) during our open hours and follow these 3 steps.
- Enter your PCC ID# at the counseling check-in computer in the L building hallway.
- Take a seat in the waiting area and wait to be called.
- A counselor will call your name and help you at the Drop-In Counseling Counter. If the counselor feels more time is needed to help you, they will schedule a 30 to 60 minute appointment for you. Appointments may be scheduled for the same day or within seven days depending on availability.
If you have never attended college before, you will attend a new student group counseling session after you have applied to PCC, completed your online orientation and taken your Math & English Placement tests.
If you have already attended some college and taken an English and Math class, you do not need to take the placement tests again. Instead, bring copies of your previous college transcripts (official or unofficial) to the counseling center (L building) and follow the counseling process for continuing students.
During drop-in counseling, make sure you request a semester education plan and to clear prerequisites (not automatic).
You need to have a PCC ID# to meet with one of our counselors. If you do not yet have an ID#, first apply to PCC and then come to the counseling center for a drop-in counseling.
If you have a general question, you can use our online counseling service to get your questions answered.
