These courses are designed for adults with developmental and/or intellectual differences who have an interest in finding realistic and meaningful employment. Many of these courses are also appropriate for students with “hidden” differences including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, etc. (speak to your DSPS counselor for options). It is recommended that students have a working knowledge of basic English reading and writing skills.

The Job Search and Application Certificate Program is designed for students who want to learn more about the job search and application process including ethical issues, job search methods, how to create an organized resume and cover letter that actually get looked at, and what to do before, during and after the interview process. Students must receive at least 70% in all classes in order to receive a certificate.

Complete the following courses to earn a certificate!

Required Courses (complete courses in this order):

  • DSPS 1005 The Job Search Process
    In this course, you will explore how the concept of ethics relates to the job application process, discuss your rights and accommodations during the hiring process, and identify a variety of job search methods to help you. You will also use a real job description to help you determine if a job is right for you.
  • DSPS 1006 The Job Application Process
    In this course, you will learn about the job application process and create materials including a resume and a cover letter. You will also fill out a sample job application with your information.
  • DSPS 1007 The job Interview Process 
    In this course you will examine the job interview process including ethics and behavior, dressing and grooming, and strategies for what to do before, during, and after your interview. 

A Certificate of Completion is awarded upon successful completion of all required courses.

    Follow these steps if you are new to PCC OR returning after an absence of 1 or more major semester(s):

    1. Apply to Noncredit
      • Create an OpenCCC account if you don’t have one already.

    2. Receive Welcome Letter via email

    3. Activate your LancerPoint account

    4. Check your Registration Status Date in LancerPoint

    5. Register for classes in LancerPoint using CRN#
