What is the new PCC Transportation Fee?

  • This fee is aimed at paying for the GoPass program (replacing the LA Metro U-Pass) for students to access unlimited rides on public transportation.
  • The transportation fee would be automatically included in student tuition fees.

How much will students have to pay?

The following table provides the proposed fee schedule:

$3.50 - 0-6 units
Winter 2027 $4.00 - 7 units and above
$2.00 - 0-6 units
Spring 2027 $7.00 - 7 units and above
$3.50 - 0-6 units
Summer 2027 $4.00 - 7 units and above
$2.00 - 0-6 units

What is GoPass?

GoPass is a program for eligible students to receive a transit pass that allows unlimited rides on LA Metro buses, trains, and several local transit systems across LA County without any additional out-of-pocket fares. Service areas include: LA Metro, Pasadena, Santa Monica, Foothill, Gardena, Long Beach, Montebello, Norwalk, and Torrance.

Why is this fee important?

  • Previously, the U-Pass was funded by COVID-19 finance relief grants. This money has since run out.
  • Without this Transportation Fee, students will have to pay standard LA Metro fees.

How will this money be used?

To fund free transportation for all students in addition to student-led transportation initiatives.

What can you do?

During the elections on May 13th-14th, vote YES to ensure students continue receiving free transportation!
