FAQs

Yes, you must attend these classes to keep your specialized care rate and to renew your RFA certification.

RFA Renewal (RR) = 8 hrs;
W-rate (W) = 4hrs;
SCI Renewal (SS) = 6 hrs

You will now take classes labeled as SCI Specialized (SS)

Your CSW will request an LOC/SCI assessment when you either receive a new placement, or when it is time for your annual D or F rate reassessment, whichever happens first.

You can begin taking the SCI training now, you do not have to wait for your CSW to initiate the LOC protocol.  The training will assist you with being prepared for the conversion.  If you were previously certified in D-rate or F-rate, you do not need to take the 12-hour Pre-service class, you can take the 6-hour SCI Basics for Previous D & F Rate Caregivers.

You will receive a certificate at the end of class.

You may only receive training hours from the community colleges’ Foster/Kinship Care Education (FKCE) departments and directly from the training division of the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS). A limited number of hours are accepted for online trainings.

No, you may not bring children to class. Only children ages 14 and up may attend workshops that are listed as combined for teens and parents. WE DO NOT PROVIDE CHILDCARE.
