Apply to Pasadena City College

Start by completing a new student application here.

When completing your application, you will be asked to provide your social security number and your citizenship status information.

If you do not have an ITIN or SSN, check the box at the bottom of the page labeled “Check this box if you do not have a Social Security Number or Taxpayer Identification Number, or decline to provide one at this time.”

If you have a Social Security Number (SSN) OR Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) given to you by Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) OR any other work permit, use it for this section.

When asked for your citizenship status information: If you do not have a current and valid immigration status, in the Citizenship/Military section of the application, choose “Other” from the drop-down menu and click the box labeled “No documents.”

Request to Verify Your Immigration Status

Students may receive a notification to verify their immigration status. To do so, please bring a copy of your Visa, passport, permanent resident card (green card), and/or any other USCIS immigration documents to the Admissions Office in L-113.

If you do not have any of these documents, you can still visit Admissions to discuss your situation.

Your information is protected. All documents are handled securely and used only for the purposes of verifying eligibility.

Nonresident Tuition Exemption (AB 540)

If you are classified as an out-of-state student, you may be eligible to apply for the AB 540 affidavit at Pasadena City College. To do so, submit the Nonresident Tuition Exemption application along with a copy of your transcripts to the Admissions and Records office. You can also review a detailed breakdown of the eligibility requirements.

Undocumented students who do not currently meet the AB 540 requirements may be able to build up their eligibility. The In-State Tuition Tool on the Immigrants Rising website can help students determine if they are eligible before applying.

NOTE: California residency for tuition purposes is different from U.S. citizenship/permanent resident status.
