Safe and Brave Campus Allies
In 2024, the Dream Resource Center and Intercultural Engagement Center partnered to redesign and relaunch our UndocuAlly Training for PCC faculty and staff. Named Safe and Brave, the training is rooted in a core truth: undocumented students carry intersecting identities and lived experiences that are constantly shaped by policy, culture, and community. These realities directly influence academic success, emotional well-being, and the ability to thrive.
Safe and Brave Allies:
- Gained the most current understanding of terminology, state and federal policies, and the shifting political landscape impacting undocumented communities.
- Examined the unique stress patterns undocumented students navigate and how these pressures affect mental, emotional, and academic outcomes.
- Practiced supportive, healing-centered approaches to incorporate into daily interactions from any role on campus.
Across departments and classifications, participants found a shared commitment: honoring the dignity of immigrant students and affirming that every person has worth simply by existing. That collective vision now includes 95 faculty, instructors, deans, staff, professional experts, and counselors formally recognized as Safe and Brave Allies for the 2025–2026 academic year.
